Makati Shangri-La Guest Reviews
“First day of my stay was terrible as the hotel keep having intermediate back-out. I am quite disappointed thou for a five star hotel.” Guest review from www.agoda.com
“This is one of the awesome hotels, where you have all the facilities and this is an awesome place to stay. The best part is that staff is good, great food, ambience and is very near to all shopping places. It has great connectivity to all the places and they have internal cab service as well. I would recommend to anyone” Guest review from www.tripadvisor.com
“Real luxury, but not overstated. Facilities and restaurants excellent, staff almost too attentive, but very competent and helpful.” Guest review from www.tripadvisor.com
“Definitely I would have no hesitation recommending this property to anyone visiting Manila/Makati. The hotel is in the middle of the CBD and all major shopping attractions can be accessed on foot namely, Glorieta and Greenbelt. Their plush and modern Deluxe Suite is impeccably well appointed, bathroom’s super spacious with large granite counter tops” Guest review from www.tripadvisor.com
“I have stayed at the Makati Shangri-la a few times and I have never been disappointed. First – the hotel is beautiful and clean. The rooms are very nice and roomy. I am very particular about food when I travel and I have found the food very good at the Shang.” Guest review from www.tripadvisor.com
“I like the View, The Location and the Service. Nice Shopping Malls just next Door.” Guest review from www.tripadvisor.com
“So we had our prom event here, and the food was rather mediocre at the event itself, but the staff were really accommodating to our requests and were quick. After the prom, it was definitely comfortable to have had a room to stay in, it was clean, from every inch of it. the bathroom was nice and provided enough facilities” Guest review from www.tripadvisor.com
“I used to frequent Manila and used to steay in Intercon or the Pen when I was there. So now I tried the Shangri-La which was a really nice surprise. The rooms were very new and perfectly clean and neat. A large and well lit bathroom and a big shower cabin plus a bath tub.” Guest review from www.tripadvisor.com
“Spent a week for business and this is definatley the best hotel I have ever been to. Great service, and employees always have a smile ready for you. I recommend the amazing breakfast buffet, specially the sushi” Guest review from www.tripadvisor.com
“I stayed here after staying at the Peninsula. The Shangri-La is definitely the best located hotel in Makati and most modern as well. But it’s not really worth the $50-$75 premium that they hold over the Peninsula. It’s not *that* great.” Guest review from www.tripadvisor.com
“Due to the reviews in Tripadvisor I had quite some expectations of the Shangri-La. When I arrived I found a lobby which is cold and doesn’t offer seating where you would wait for a pick-up.” Guest review from www.tripadvisor.com
“A geat hotel with some lovely facilities. The breakfasts were indeed something to behold as they catered for all tastes from around the world. Do be aware though that in the evening the Conways bar is a bar where Filipino girls are looking for personal business. In the evenings the area of residences are populated with girls looking for business” Guest review from www.tripadvisor.com
“I am angry at the management dept of this Hotel. 5 Star hotel with a separate Breakfast charge? Hidden charges upon check out include VAT TAX, GOVT TAX, ROOM CHARGE (this is apart from the regular price) ROOM SERVICE CHARGE. Under one minute local phone call costs a fortune.” Guest review from travel.yahoo.com
“kind of pricey but all’s worth for …excellent service, good security, very clean. It got to be Shangrila Hotel everytime we go home to Phil.” Guest review from travel.yahoo.com
“Having to travel to Makati for the past 10 years, I have to say the best place to stay is here. The staff and the enviroment is just superb. Very clean, and safe. Each time just get better in all aspects. I normally stay for a week, and wish I could just stay longer.” Guest review from travel.yahoo.com
“The location is ideal, it’s just a stone’s throw away from Glorietta and 6750. The service is great, and the rooms are so lovely! Beds are extremely comfortable, and be sure to get a room with a view of Makati City! Downside is, it’s very pricey, and costs almost twice the rates offered by nearby hotels.” Guest review from travel.yahoo.com
“The Hotel was clean from Inside, the rooms are little bit small. i stayed in a delux room it seem ok but not so Delux, all Shangri La Hotels arround the world offers a pick-ups from the Airport but not Makati Shanra-la. security: is very good TV: very good Gym: excellent Jacuzi: very good Staff: good transport: poor (very expensive to take a lemo from the hotel ($1000)!!!! Breakfast: they dont provide it to your room tou have to pay for it !!!!!. Pathroom: very good. Security guards: the best people in the Hotel !!!!!!” Guest review from travel.yahoo.com
“I visited the Philippines last year with my Filipino wife. I have to say the hotel was a pleasant surprise. It was located right smack in the heart of the Makati business district. A stone’s throw away from the malls and the restaurants. Nice rooms, nice amenities (the pool, tennis courts). Friendly and helpful staff.” Guest review from travel.yahoo.com
“Comfortable! Rooms are wide with nice views.. BIG soft BEDs, you can ask for extra pillows! Bathrooms are clean.. soaps and shampoo smells fresh and good..Attendants are great with the locals and the foreigners..Great Buffet restaurants… a little pricey though. Spa and gym facilities are wonderful..” Guest review from www.virtualtourist.com
“it is one of the nicest hotels i’ve ever stayed at. Makati Shangri-La, Manila is located at the center of Manila’s most prestigious business, shopping and entertainment district: Makati. Just 20 minutes away from the airport.” Guest review from www.virtualtourist.com
“I have stayed at most of the high class hotels in Manila and this is at the top of the list! It’s not your best value (that distinction goes to the Manila Hotel) but it certainly is the fanciest and nicest hotel I have ever stayed in! The rooms are unbelievable. I took their weekend rate of $150 plus taxes. Expensive but worth a night or two for the fun of it!” Guest review from www.virtualtourist.com
“The Shangri-Las hotel in Makati / Manila is a great location because of its proximity to the SM mall, just across the street from the main entrance. I believe this is the most expensive hotel in the city, and the amenities were all there. The downstairs restaurant offers a free breakfast buffet every day for two guests per room.” Guest review from www.virtualtourist.com
“I stayed here for 8 days. It is a excellent hotel. the service is great. Always met by the staff with a “morning sir”. The rooms are basically suites. Excellent hotel gym. Lots of security. You will get wanded and your bag searched entering the hotel. Also, they have a K-9 dog at the door during the day. The hotel has their own taxi service. I would definitly recomend using it.” Guest review from www.virtualtourist.com
“The premiere hotel in Makati (or Manila to most tourists), The Shangri-la offers the traveller everthing he needs from accommodations, to communication/business needs, acessibility to the business district and proximity to the shopping area.” Guest review from www.virtualtourist.com
“The most expensive and luxurious hotel in Manila with a great location by Glorietta Shopping Mall. The hotel is a bit over the top. The reception seems a bit snobbish, the lobby area is overdone with massive staircases / chandeliers which look a bit out of place. I don’t think a fax machine in the room that delivers you a welcoming fax after arrival is really necessary. Conways bar is OK but way too expensive.” Guest review from www.virtualtourist.com
“Had the opportunity to stay again at the Shangrila Manila which is actually in Makati, after an 8 years hiatus. Stayed with the family (spouse and kids from teen to 5 year old) and we occupied 2 rooms. The decor/furniture have been updated, giving the rooms a more modern look (curves vs rectangular shapes). Used the gym which was fairly well equipped but I had to convert the weights on the machines as they were in kg rather than lbs. Trainers were available if needed. The staff have always been courteous and and are constantly greeting you. Attended a function and food was good, but this may not reflect the food in the restaurants. Had the breakfast buffet as part of our package but could not eat due to a bum stomach, though the rest of the family liked it. The hallways and rooms are clean, and the lobby area is huge, though it can use more seating. If you are not familiar with the area, the entrance is located inside a shopping district. While you will have to put up with traffic (foot and motor), the trade off is easy access to nearby restaurants and stores. You can literally cross the street and shop, dine, etc.” Guest review from www.mytravelguide.com
“Makati Shangri-La has far exceeded my expectations. Based on two previous stays at this hotel, I was familiar with the hotel’s set up and knew the level of service to expect from staff. Christmas time being a popular time to go to the Philippines, I was surprised at how the hotel and staff could still better itself. There were even activities in the hotel organized especially for the season. Another family member who had tried to save by staying at another five star hotel regretted having done so.” Guest review from www.hoteltravel.com
“Excellent hotel. Highly recommend the buffet on the ground floor (Circles restaurant), the food is excellent quality and there is a lot of it. For breakfast get there before 9 am otherwise you have to line up and wait for a table. The pool on the 4th floor is 20 m – just big enough to do laps and not get dizzy! There is also a well equipped gym. The hotel is across the road from shopping at Glorietta, Rustans, Shoe Mart and the Greenbelt (luxury shops e.g. Louis Vuitton, YSL, Bally, etc…). Plenty of places to eat in the shopping malls.” Guest review from www.hotelclub.com
“I stayed there twice over 2 consecutive weekends and I would go back again if I found myself in Manila on business. Fantastic hotel. I found the hotel facilities to be great. The rooms have been recently redone – lush marble bathrooms, modern furniture, great desk. The gym facilities were one of the best I”ve seen in Asian hotels, and the trainers were extremely friendly.” Guest review from www.hotelclub.com
“the pool was very warm and needed retiling. The food in the club was up to Shangri La standards but the buffet at breakfast was starch loaded.. The surrounding Chain restaurants were not Ruth Chris but Outback.. felt like I was missing the ‘real’ Manila” Guest review from www.agoda.com
“This is a class hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. This is evident right from the time of check-in. The rooms are magnificent with great amenities including free broadband in the room I stayed in. The location is superb with eateries, shopping complexes within the vicinity. The concierge also takes very good care of one whenever a taxi is called – they give you a chit of the taxi registration number and directs the driver to where you’d like to go. Overall it was a very pleasant stay and excellent service provided by all in the hotel.” Guest review from www.agoda.com
“Overall, the stay was good. Very nice decor, staff are ok but little details were not quite right. Now these are only little but a hotel of this reputation should not have these problems. 1: Stayed in a suite, bedroom tv remote did not work correctly. 2: Breakfast at the hotel restuarant, bent forks. 3: Only smoking is at the pool, or outside – ok thats fine but we dont appreciate 4: Its all a bit too formal, no-where to get a simple cup of coffee without crazy prices. We suggest go out across the road, very nice cafe and more reasonable coffee price (poolside P200+) 5: RED fine dining restuarant, steak was tough – this should not happen in such a restuarant and especially at P2000+ for the steak – Outback is much better” Guest review from www.agoda.com
“Very large hotel with great security, restaurants and free internet, which is excellent! Walking distance to major malls, restaurants, excellent location. Highly recommend for business stays.” Guest review from www.agoda.com
